Oh he's rationalizing like hell. But that's what he does, all the time. Mind you, he happpens to be right in this particular case - working together as agents does bring Jack and Sydney together whereas otherwise they might have ended up talking only via Christmas cards. Which doesn't make Sloane's actions better.
